The company, located in Okomu-Udo Ovia South-West L.G.A, revealed this unfortunate event in a notice shared on the Nigeria Exchange Group (NGX).
According to the notice, the attacks occurred on the 6th and 7th of May 2024, leading to the tragic loss of three rubber plantation workers and leaving four others injured. The company expressed deep condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased workers and assured them of support during this difficult time.
The notice highlighted the severity of the situation, stating, “On the 6th of May 2024, our Company fell victim to a violent attack by hoodlums, resulting in the tragic loss of three of our esteemed rubber plantation workers.” The incidents continued on the following day, with more workers sustaining injuries from another assault by hoodlums.
Despite the challenges, the company acknowledged the swift response and courageous efforts of its security personnel, who successfully repelled the attackers before further harm could be inflicted. However, the motives behind the attacks remain unclear, prompting Okomu to collaborate with law enforcement agencies in an active investigation to uncover the truth and ensure justice is served.
