One Fighting for Life After Three Are Shot Near Florissant

Police found three wounded people at a restaurant, but investigators believe the gunfire occurred along Patterson Road outside Florissant.

FLORISSANT, Mo. — A triple-shooting investigation in north St. Louis County spans two locations after three wounded people reached a Florissant restaurant Wednesday night even though police believe the gunfire occurred outside the city.

The distinction emerged as authorities investigated the Oct. 7 shooting. Police encountered the three victims just before 8:30 p.m. at the Culver’s at 975 N. Highway 67 in Florissant, but investigators believe they had been shot in a business parking lot in the 2900 block of Patterson Road in unincorporated St. Louis County.

All three victims were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. Police said one was in critical condition and the other two had injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Their names, ages and hometowns were not released in the initial reports.

The victims traveled to the Culver’s after the shooting and sought assistance there. Authorities have not said who was driving, how long the trip took or what happened between the time shots were fired and the victims’ arrival at the restaurant.

Nothing in the available police account indicates the Culver’s was connected to the circumstances that led to the violence. Its parking lot became part of the police response because that was where the wounded people reached officers and received emergency assistance.

The suspected shooting scene on Patterson Road remains central to determining what happened. Authorities have not publicly identified the business where the shooting reportedly occurred or released information explaining what the victims were doing there before the gunfire.

Several key questions also remain unanswered. Police have not announced a motive, said whether the victims and shooter knew one another or disclosed whether investigators believe one or multiple people were involved in firing shots.

No suspect was reported in custody in the initial investigation, and authorities had not released a suspect description or announced charges. The separate locations mean the place where emergency responders encountered the victims should not be confused with the place where investigators believe the shooting itself occurred.

The investigation remained focused on determining the circumstances of the Patterson Road shooting and identifying whoever was responsible. Police had not publicly announced an arrest or established a motive in the available reports.
