Police have released few details about the boy’s death as investigators await a determination from the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office.
BLUE ASH, Ohio — The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office is working to determine how an 11-year-old boy died after police found him inside a Blue Ash home during a welfare check Friday night.
Blue Ash police and fire crews responded to the 4700 block of Belleview Avenue shortly after 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23 for a check on someone’s well-being. Officers found the child dead inside the home, according to police. A woman who was also inside was taken to a hospital.
The child’s identity has not been publicly released. Police also have not disclosed what prompted the welfare check or provided details about the circumstances officers encountered when they entered the home.
The cause of death remains the central unanswered question. The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office was called to investigate, but no cause had been announced as of Tuesday. Authorities have not provided a timeline for when that determination could be completed.
Police have also released little information about the woman who was taken from the home. Her identity, medical condition and relationship to the child have not been made public. Authorities have not said what injuries or medical problem led to her hospitalization.
Blue Ash police have not publicly characterized the boy’s death as a homicide or announced any arrests or criminal charges. Without a finding from the coroner or additional information from investigators, the circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear.
Local reports place the arrival of police and fire crews within a few minutes of one another, with authorities responding shortly before 8 p.m. Friday. All accounts agree that the boy was discovered during the welfare check at the Belleview Avenue home and that a woman at the residence was transported for medical care.
Sycamore Community Schools told a local television station that the boy was not currently attending one of its school buildings. The district did not release additional information, citing student privacy restrictions.
Police have indicated that further information about the investigation is limited while the coroner works to determine the cause of death. The boy’s identity and the circumstances that led to his death remained undisclosed Tuesday.
