Police said an armed man forced his estranged wife into an SUV before a pursuit ended near an airport in Cresson.
BURLESON, Texas — A reported kidnapping in Burleson triggered a roughly 35-minute police pursuit Thursday morning that ended near an airport in Cresson, where officers found an estranged husband and wife dead inside an SUV, authorities said.
Burleson police said the incident began around 7:45 a.m. Oct. 29 after a 911 caller reported seeing an armed man force a woman into a black SUV at an apartment complex in the 700 block of West Hidden Creek Parkway. Police identified the two as estranged spouses. Investigators said the woman had returned to the complex after taking one of the couple’s children to school.
Officers later located the SUV and attempted to stop it, but police said the driver refused to pull over. That prompted a pursuit south from Burleson that involved several law enforcement agencies and continued toward Cresson. Video recorded during the chase showed the SUV leaving the roadway at points as police vehicles followed.
Police said officers deployed spike strips along U.S. Highway 377 and struck both passenger-side tires of the SUV. The vehicle continued despite the tire damage. The pursuit eventually reached private property near Bourland Field Airport in Cresson, where the SUV came to a stop in a cul-de-sac.
Officers found both occupants dead inside the vehicle from apparent gunshot wounds, according to police. Investigators described the deaths as an apparent murder-suicide. Authorities said no law enforcement officers fired their weapons during the incident.
The woman was later identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 34-year-old Bianca Garza. Her family also confirmed her death. As of Thursday night, authorities had not publicly identified the man.
Burleson Police Chief Billy Cordell said the couple had two school-age children, ages 9 and 14. Police said neither child was physically harmed during the incident and both were being cared for by relatives after their parents’ deaths.
Police said the couple had separated after moving to the area earlier in 2026. Authorities said Burleson and Mansfield police had not found records of previous domestic violence calls involving the couple. Investigators continued working to establish the circumstances that led to the reported abduction and deaths.
Several agencies assisted during the pursuit, including county and state law enforcement and a Fort Worth police helicopter. The circumstances surrounding the kidnapping report, pursuit and deaths remain under investigation.
