Woman Killed, Three Wounded in Shocking Flint Halloween Shooting

Police have announced no arrests or suspect details after four people were shot outside a north-side residence.

FLINT, Mich. — Flint detectives were working Monday to determine who opened fire outside a crowded Halloween house party, killing a woman and wounding two teenage boys and an adult man.

The shooting happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, in the 400 block of West Parkway Avenue near Pierson Road. Police said a large group of teenagers and adults was gathered outside the residence when shots were fired.

Four people were found with gunshot wounds and taken to a local hospital. The woman died from her injuries. Police had not released her identity by Monday, and no additional identifying information about the three surviving victims had been made public.

The surviving victims included two teenage boys and an adult man. Police said they were in good condition, providing one of the few updates investigators had released about the case after the initial response.

The Flint Police Department’s Major Crime Unit is handling the investigation. As of Monday, authorities had not announced an arrest or disclosed a suspect description. Police also had not publicly identified a possible motive or explained what happened immediately before the shooting.

Those unanswered questions leave detectives trying to reconstruct what occurred among a large group gathered outside the home. Authorities have not said whether there was a dispute before the shooting, whether more than one gun was fired or whether any of the four victims were intended targets.

Flint’s Major Crimes Unit handles violent felony investigations in the city. According to the city, detectives assigned to the unit gather facts and evidence before cases are presented to the appropriate prosecutor’s office, which determines whether criminal charges should be issued.

No charging decision had been announced in the Halloween case because police had not publicly identified or arrested a suspect. Investigators also had not released information indicating that they had determined why the shooting happened.

The shooting left police with a homicide investigation involving a crowded residential gathering and three surviving victims. The woman’s name remained unreleased Monday, while the two teenagers and the man continued to be described as being in good condition.

The investigation remained active, with no publicly announced arrest, suspect or motive as of the latest available reports.
